The Spartan Bus Tour is an opportunity for MSU faculty and administrators to join President Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D., as they visit locations throughout Michigan to build community connections and strengthen the university’s commitment to education, research, outreach and extension.
Previous tours have traveled to the Upper Peninsula and portions of northern Michigan as well as the western Lower Peninsula and metro Detroit region.

The next Spartan Bus Tour will take place May 6-7, 2026. This two-day Local Loop will visit communities in and around Flint, Saginaw and Bay City.
Faculty and administrators are encouraged to apply before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10. Applicants will be notified of their status in mid-April.
From Oct. 25-27, 2026, the Spartan Bus Tour Regional Route will head to the southern Lower Peninsula. Check back in July for more details.

The Spartan Bus Tour program takes two trips each year, the Regional Route and the Local Loop.
About the President
Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Ph.D., became the 22nd president of MSU in March 2024. A strong believer in fostering deep connections between universities and the public they serve, he hosted similar bus tours while chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
